10 Year Anniversary

In 10 years Clausematch has grown beyond being a start-up to one of the leading global regulatory technology companies providing cutting edge solutions for policy lifecycle management. From our foundational roots back in 2012 with a tiny office in London we’ve grown both in geography and size. We now have clients in banking, insurance, Fintech/ payments, energy, and we’re working with regulators. Today we have offices across 3 continents, but as a hybrid company, our employees are now all over the world. Our most recent funding round saw us bring on new investors such as Sony, Lytical Ventures and Flashpoint.

We’re scaling fast with new team members joining almost every week, and we’re really excited about what the future holds. But how did we get to where we are today? Here are some of the milestones from Clausematch’s journey to date.

August 2012

Clausematch was founded

Evgeny Likhoded founded Clausematch in London after a decade of working as a lawyer with derivatives trading agreements for global banks and energy companies.


Product Development

Clausematch developed the MVP product and secured angel funding. In 2014, Clausematch successfully graduated from the inaugural Barclays Accelerator run by TechStars. This helped us establish a product-market fit and target the compliance market. We also won the BBVA open talent challenge Europe contest which allowed us to test our product. That year, also Andrey Dokuchaev joined as a Co-founder complimenting by being intimately aware of organizations' operational complexities.


Product Innovation and acceleration

Clausematch graduated from other London-based FinTech accelerators: FinTech Innovation Lab and Startupbootcamp and received investment from strategic angels: Tom Glocer and Cristobal Conde. At this time, we started growing our tech team to double down on product development.


Go live with the first client Barclays

Our first client Barclays was signed after we participated in the Barclays accelerator. That is a great partnership developing since then. That first milestone enabled us to create the case study with Barclays that served as an example for other banks to show how compliance can be done in a more efficient and modern way.


Series A round

Clausematch raised a large round of funding which was led by well known Venture Capital funds Index Ventures and Talis Capital. The funding was used to help us hire the first Sales Team while continuing to rapidly scale-up and accelerate development of the product. In 2018, Clausematch became runner-up to the Bank of England in Banking Technology awards for the case with Barclays.


Broke new markets

Clausematch successfully graduated from Lloyds Lab validating the policy management solution for the insurance industry. The program was a door opener to Clausematch supporting insurance organizations.

In March 2019, Clausematch launched operations in the APAC region out of Singapore closing 3 clients in 3 months in the region. That year, the company also started working with regulators.


US Launch

In April 2020 Clausematch was one of ten companies selected to participate in the FinTech Innovation Lab NYC 2020 run by the Partnership Fund for New York City along with Accenture. In the new reality, the 12-weeks lab ran 100% virtually but it is exactly this factor that highlighted the needs of the market for innovative and collaborative tools even more. As a result, Clausematch launched operations in the US following successful graduation from the Lab signing 4 tier 1 North American financial institutions.

At the end of 2020, Clausematch won the FinTech Abu Dhabi Awards and was named Global FinTech Company of the Year by Abu Dhabi Global Market. We also received an award from A-Team for the most innovative implementation of knowledge graph technologies.



Clausematch launched a new essential product module Policy Portal, to help organizations quickly disseminate the latest risk and compliance updates across their organiation, train staff more effectively, and easily track adherence.

After the Policy Portal soft launch Clausematch witnessed an immediate surge in adoption. User numbers shot up from 2,000 to just under 170,000 in a couple of weeks. One of the early adopter of Policy Portal was Barclays, we have been working with the bank for over six years, and our relationship was continuously growing and developing.

The company also continued scaling its US-based operations and growing the team. The challenging years of the pandemic proved to be even more efficient for the company: the team nailed remote working really well, the solution for policy management became a must-have as old methods of work with documents became  unsustainable.


Further growth

Clausematch closed the strategic funding round led by Lytical Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund and Flashpoint VC to increase commercial activities in the US and invest in its product, technology and data science teams. The team surpassed 70 people based out of the UK, the US and Singapore. And soon, we’re launching our new tech office in Europe. Stay tuned!
